Home built TV in The Hague
I was visiting the Museum of Den Haag today and saw this on display. It is said to have been built by the owner of a radio parts shop not long after WW2 and was used to receive the experimental transmissions made by Philips in 1948.
I have some more photos if they are of interest.

Yes, if you have some more photos please post them.
It looks like a VCR97 CRT with two PYE IF units - plenty of EF50s ! |

Next - I'll sort out a couple more when I'm home, trying to make sense of images on the iPad is irritating!

Richard,
That is a Starline kit of 1950. Not many survived the times. I suppose not that many have been sold as well. The attached picture is from a Maxwell (Dutch company in radio and electric parts) mail order catalogue of 1951. Jac |

Thanks for posting the photos and also to Jac for more info. Quite impressed with the build, appreciate its uses some probably ready built modules but still well made.

Re: Home built TV in The Hague
I also found this in my files.
As you already guessed it says: Complete kit of a television-receiver. Here it is already adapted for 625 line reception. The first kits were intended for the Philips 567 line transmissions from Eindhoven. Thanks for the photos Richard! Regards, Jac |

Re: Home built TV in The Hague
Nice find Jac! I notice that the TV receiver kit advertisement has the makers address as Den Haag, I wonder if the model on display is an assembled version of the kit, or the prototype? That would account for the description in the museum of the set being used in 1948.
