'Are You Listening?' Bletchley Park, 5th & 6th October
Click on this link to their site, it tells you all about it:
http://www.bletchleypark.org.uk/cale...istening-.html A fab couple of days celebrating communications history, the BVWS WILL BE THERE ON BOTH DAYS, with a varied display of vintage radios and working 405 line TV sets. Come and say hello, just follow the line whistle and that smell of a toasty dropper! Greg PS (The regular BVWS stand will also be at the Audiojumble in Tonbridge on 6th Oct with the usual capacitor/book sales, etc)

VMARS will also be there, with some military wireless and vintage ham radio equipment in operation. AM on 3615 kHz, and probably 5317 too.
But please be aware that the DWS/HMGCC radio museum is closed. |

That's a pity. I actually worked on the Racal 500W transistor TX that's in there, or at least some of its 125W module's mates. They were a convenient power booster on the end of a sig gen in the TX lab if you needed a bit more grunt.

Re: 'Are You Listening?' Bletchley Park, 5th & 6th October
Just returned from the first day at Bletchley.
The BVWS radio and TV display is in the drawing room at the front of the Mansion. There is quite a lot of stuff from the 1920's with working recievers running on DER valves and driving a nice big Horn speaker. This really suprised a small group of teenage boys who were astonished at the sound. Lot s of other classic radios working with period music and programs on the TV's. If you can get there on Sunday, it is a worthwhile trip and well worth the Petrol it will take. Lots to do and see with all of the other groups as well. Mike...

Yes, an excellent day, and we were very lucky with the weather.
The vintage radios & TVs in the Drawing room are particularly wonderful. Thanks to all the people who have helped to put the various exhibitions together. Looking forward to seeing more visitors tomorrow. |

Looking forward to Day 2!
According to the organisers, there were 1200 people through the gate today! And I think they all saw our displays, it certainly seemed busy enough! Met some very nice and interesting folk too. The good weather must have helped and the forecast for tomorrow is equally good. Greg
