I suggest replacing components one at a time to avoid introducing wiring errors or installing the wrong value of component. We've all done it!

If you replace the audio coupling capacitor which you've already removed, you should be able to get a buzz or hum from the speaker when you touch the PU sockets.

Hi Graham

Thank for the advice
Will replace the C1 and the R1 first as i know the R1 is faulty and the C1 is the capacitor already Removed , after replacing these , do you mean switch on radio (with lamp eliminator connected ) and test for audio with valves installed , then replace the capacitors 1 at a time and check after replacing each one for audio is still present

Yes I do mean that. So long as the test lamp does not glow brightly it can be switched out.

Start by replacing the components in the audio stages as this can easily be tested via the Pick Up socket.

Gram is the same as pick up. Have you switched out the lamp limiter?

Have just cut limitator bulb out , and retested , now getting a slight humm from speaker , and when touch the gram pins getting a clicking noise as tap on them so appears o.k ,proceed to change a capacitors one by one and test after replacing each one

That's good, but make sure the smoothing capacitors in the cardboard container aren't getting hot. Feel them occasionally with the power disconnected and after allowing time for them to discharge.

Hi Graham

Am getting a bit confused of capitors as not 100% which each refers to ordered
ie c2 , c3 , c4 ect that recommend need re-replacing as 22 capicitors in radio and ordered 11 replacements and bit worried make a mistake please if possible could you number or list which is which against each one which is which
example is first one in list C2 Replacement and so on , and make lot easier to understand as i can see how correspond in manual list , and schemetic diagram where located in radio aswell

0.0001uF = 0.1nF = 100pF
0.0002uF = 0.00022uF = 0.22nF = 220pF
0.0005uF = 0.00047uF = 0.47nF = 470pF
0.001uF = 1nF
0.006uF = 0.0068uF = 6.8nF
0.01uF = 10nF
0.02uF = 0.022uF = 22nF
0.05uF = 0.047uF = 47nF
0.5uF = 0.47uF = 470nF
8uF =10uF
25uF = 22uF

I have had a go at configuring think as follows
As from top of list down

0.0001uF = 0.1nF = 100pF C 10
0.0002uF = 0.00022uF = 0.22nF = 220pF C 14
0.0005uF = 0.00047uF = 0.47nF = 470pF C 3
0.001uF = 1nF C 13
0.006uF = 0.0068uF = 6.8nF C 1 (think one purchased seperatly off ebay and already fitted)
0.01uF = 10nF C 11
0.02uF = 0.022uF = 22nF C 16
0.05uF = 0.047uF = 47nF C 17
0.5uF = 0.47uF = 470nF C 12 or C4
8uF =10uF C not sure
25uF = 22uF C 6

I suggest you start by replacing the caps in the audio stages. It's easy to check operation after each change by doing a click/buzz test at the GRAM socket.

C13 1nF
C6 22uF (Observe polarity. Negative end will be marked and goes to chassis. Check R19 whilst cap is out).
C14 220pF (probably doesn't need changing).
C1 6.8nF (already changed).
C2 100nF
C17 47nF
C15 22uF (Observe polarity. Negative end will be marked, Positive end goes to chassis goes to chassis).
C16 22nF.

Hi Graham

Thank you for suggesting the procedure , can do first one today in order but
Just been checking capacitors i ordered ,
Definately have following ones :-
C13
C16
C17
C4
C14
C11

But not have C6 , C2 , C15 (C2 and C15 dont think were on the original order list )

have couple left left over one has 100J written on it not sure what this one is at moment
And 1 has 0.25UF This possibilty should have been one for C2 but somehow ordered wrong value

So will need to order a couple more , will do today think have found on ebay

There are two 25uF electrolytic capacitors in the set, both of which should be replaced with 22uF electrolytic capacitors.

Did you miss order two 0.25uF capacitors?

possible i miss ordered only have 1 at o.25UF
None at 22UF

Just been looking noticed C15 22UF is specified voltage rating at 25v in manual not sure if its refering just to this one in particular for some reason and the other C6 - 22UF not specified , have found a 22UF on Ebay at 400v and one at 25v not sure if it makes any difference to higher voltage or not ,will order this one at both 400v and at 25v as precaution and can fit either

What voltage is written on the original 25uF caps? Should be prominent.

Hi
Just had a look , C6 very difficult to see without cutting out ,
C15 not exactly in same position as shown in schemetic but think it says 50V on side of
