Re: Survey of TV22 ownership
TV22 Mk2 serial number 124/09248 and RF chassis A22 31415.
This was bought off a work colleague in 2009. It had been bought by his ex in-laws for the coronation and had apparently been taken out of service around 1970 and stored in dry conditions since then. Took me about 2 weeks to recap it and sort out various other issues but it displayed a picture on first power up. It even came with the original mains lead and plug plus a piece of wire as the the aerial. Tuned to Holme Moss, the transmitter isn't that far from Bradford. It ran perfectly during the re-run of the coronation in 2013 and to be honest the picture looked better than picture on a 37" LCD TV! I haven't powered it up for some time so fingers crossed when I do. Keith |

Re: Survey of TV22 ownership
Along with the TV12 and TV22 I also have two TV62s (one working, the other pretty derelict with a duff CRT) and a TV32 (under restoration).
Also two TV24s - which of course have wooden cases. Three pics of Bushes! TV22 & TV62 Sneaky radios getting in the pic! TV22 &TV12 Andy |

Re: Survey of TV22 ownership
Hi Mark,
Much work done (and to be done with the TV32). The TV24s are middling with veneer damage to one cabinet, the other not being so bad. I have high hopes for the TV32 as the CRT is a rebuild and shows as good on my CRT tester! Do you have any pics of yours to share with us? Regards Andy |

Re: Survey of TV22 ownership
I'll give this until the weekend and then tot up all the sets. I think I'll also produce a table as suggested by Helder Crespo.
If you have anything you'd like to add in the meantime about your own TV12/22, such as serial numbers, feel free. I'll sort all the posts out at the weekend. TV32 and TV62 owners should also post. Obviously, this survey will be limited in scope, since it only includes sets that people have posted about here. From THIS earlier survey, we learned there were about 700 405-line-capable sets still working in 2019. It will be interesting now to see how many are bakelite Bushes! Steve

Re: Survey of TV22 ownership
Hello Steve
I have a TV62 which I purchased in 1965 for the large sum of 10 shillings. I modified it for TV-DX as per an article in Practical Television. My first DX was the 819 line test card from ORTF. Still have the set. Mike

Re: Survey of TV22 ownership
I have one TV12B and one TV22.
The TV22 was bought in 1983 after placing a wanted advert in the local paper. The elderly couple i bought it off had purchased it brand new in 1950 and said they kept it going until it broke down in 1970. The set has been fully restored and works well. Ironically i have now owned it longer than they did. |

Re: Survey of TV22 ownership
Hello Steve,
I have a TV32 and a TV62, both in fine condition but unrestored. The TV32 was given to me from the original owner who passed away recently. Mark. |

Re: Survey of TV22 ownership
Hello,
Just came across this post - I realise that it's primarily about TV22s but just wanted to add that I'm also the lucky owner of a TV62 in good working order. Purchased in 2017 and was kindly renovated by Mr Norman Raeburn (also of UKVRR&R forum) - thanks again Norman - really good picture and was used for a while when my 19" KB (SV30 FM model) was getting repaired at Xmas by Trevor Goodenough - aka Mr. Murphy - thanks also go to Trevor. I'm a collector not an engineer - I know my limits Good Wishes to all. |

Re: Survey of TV22 ownership
Here's the table (is this called a spreadsheet?) as it is so far. Please post in this thread if you want anything further added or changes made to your entry.
I confess I'm not very conversant with Excel. I believe this copy has been protected against editing, to prevent different versions multiplying, but I could be wrong. One problem: Nobody has admitted yet in these posts to having a TV22A! But we know they're out there. Please tell us here if yours is an 'A'. Thank you. Steve

Thanks Helder. I'll call the final complete version something else distinctive then.

Re: Survey of TV22 ownership
As I mentioned in post 14 the TV22A differs considerably from the earlier TV22s mainly in a completely different upper deck. The octal valves have gone to be replaced with the Mullard B9A World series. The LOPT is much improved and mounted on the left of the chassis.
A quick glance over the back reveals a very small Laurel and Hardy style bowler hat to replace the earlier box affair. These pictures were scanned from the 1954 makers service manual. The Dulwich museum has a good working example. John. |
