Default Soviet / Russian TA-72 Telephone conversion?

Just picked up this unusual phone and wondering if anybody has any idea if / how it could be converted to the UK phone system. It has a Russian / polish 4 pin plug on it and I cant find any information on-line apart from the wiring diagram below.

Thanks

Connect Red and White wires from a BT phone lead to X1 X2. You might
get bell tinkle on dialling but should work ok.

I have wired up a few of these and they work reasonably well. However you may need to carefully clean the cradle-switch contacts as they are often oxidised and therefore high resistance.
