I suppose PVA would be suitable?

Don't forget that there are different types of PVA. The type used for gluing wood can be slightly acidic. I acquired a 5 gallon drum of industrial PVA from the infant school where my wife was a governor after a H&S inspection condemned it as unsuitable for children's use. But the true audiophool would no doubt prefer to use the PVA-type glue, EVA, that I use in bookbinding. It is employed where archival permanence is required because it has neutral pH and so will not damage paper. A plus for the audiophool is that it is somewhat more expensive than PVA!

Yes, I have heard of the PVA glue trick before. You would need to be a braver person than me to try it though!

Sounds like the most appropriate fate for a punk album

Can I be serious for a moment?

If any of you good folks here do actually have any unwanted punk albums then please let me know and I will very happily take them off your hands.

Steve.

If cleaning punk albums, shouldn't a little green dye be added to the PVA?

I wonder how 36 degrees was arrived at?

Maybe what they need is a non-isotropic plastic to make CDs from, so that light travels only vertically and has significant loss horizontally. Hmmm, new presto wonder solution. Dip your CD in it, and then apply a strong mag field to orient the new non-isotropic property... special mag field machine sold separately at extortionate price. Drops only need to be distilled water plus a little alcohol and detergent. A spot of a suitably mysterious colourant might help sales.

There is even an active groups.io set up by believers in Belt's products https://groups.io/g/PWB

If Belt was, as you say, a noted designer of pro audio power amps I find it hard to believe that he believed (in the sense that they worked) in his audiophoolery products. Unless he foresaw the emerging audiophoolery market and/or thought that it was a better, easier way to earn money. Or, he could have just done it for private laughs. Who knows.

Well, I've just spent an hour looking at posts in the PWB group.

Improve the sound of your CD by freezing it, then slowly returning it to room temperature. ( A 15 to 20% improvement apparently, YMMV )

Put a QR code in you wallet if you want HiFi sound from your Walkman.

Set your clocks 99 minutes forward, this improves the sound no end.

Simplest of all, make sure all your toilet seats are closed !.

I'm still trying to work out what planet these people are on.

Everyone knows that there is a difference in sound between a corrected sample of precisely the same value and arriving at precisely the same time as an uncorrected, unmolested sample straight from the disc. Don't they?

There was an article in WW or HiFi News back sometime in the 70's about using two toilets as horn loudspeakers.

The author called them loohorns.

Better not close the lid in that application!

Some degree of protection from confused people might be a good idea.

Belt used to advocated filing notches on mains plug pins. There was some sort of rule to do with even number and odd number of notches on different edges of a pin. Like someone said, maybe Belt was just having a laugh.

Surprisingly something that does improve the sound is to get rid of anything high Q and resonant, like crystal ornaments etc. You can find this by standing in the middle of the room and clapping, then listening for an extended piiinnng, or a cacophony of different frequency pings. I ousted them all to a cabinet in another room. Now that did improve the sound quality, but in this case for good physical reasons. I even got away with that one with SWMBO.

I however did not get away with acoustic damping panels. Even though you can get them printed with images of your choice, so they just look like (rather thick) pictures on the wall. Just could not swing that one at all. Over my dead body was the general gist.
