Panasonic K deck grating sound
I have replaced the little drive dog in quite a few Panasonic K deck machines - an easy task. However after replacing the last couple, both machines (not the same model) make a 'rough cog' noise as if teeth of a cog are touching/snagging something. Both machines work fine and don't bind or stop, however apart from changing the little plastic bit I did nothing else.
Does anyone remember coming across this issue before? I thought I would ask before spending time chasing it down and pulling things apart again. The last machine I did I stripped the slider down and re-greased everything but the sound was just the same. Something to do with the motor area I feel sure, but I am not sure what. |

Is the drive dog you replaced on the end of the motor? As that coupling as I call it splits.

Re: Panasonic K deck grating sound
It was the little plastic part that pushes onto the motor shaft that slips into the spiral drive that I replaced.

Re: Panasonic K deck grating sound
Now fixed. This one is worth remembering - the little push on plastic part has play on the shafts (due to being a little bit thinner than the original) so a tiny piece of electronic tape wrapped around prior to pushing the spiral on has eliminated the noise.
