National Panasonic NV-G10 - No power! - UK Vintage Radio Repair and Restoration Discussion Forum

I have a National NV-G10EM which is having a power problem. When I plug it in, the "VTR" LED stays on but nothing else works! I have recapped the power supply but now luck so far. This model has a switching power supply and not a linear one like the NV-G10EG model. Does anyone know what the problem is? I have the service manual if you need it. Thanks

There were some some small capacitors on the sub pcb in the SMPS PSU, did you change those too?

There is a fusible resistor on the main PCB that tends to go open circuit causing this problem. Unfortunately it's been about 12 years since I last worked on one of these so can't recall which one.

Thanks Ben. I did change the caps in the small PCB on the PSU too. I'm looking for the fusible resistor now.

Failing that, I would suspect the regulator in the PSU.

Josh, are you talking about the STR10006?

*John. I can't say for certain, but I've seen very similar faults with other machines and it's often down to a regulator problem.
