What TV is this?
Hi found an old photo of one of my grandparents television sets and was wondering if anyone one knows what it is. Thanks

Re: What tv is this??
I think that's a GEC 2000 series - bit later than the 2000 DST itself. 19" or 23" - maybe 2012 or similar. Could be a Sobell - almost identical but slightly cheaper look. In those the model number starts with 10.

Re: What tv is this??
Ooh - could be. Either had the two rotary tuners at the top. Unfortunately I can't see if the controls are at the botton (as the GEC would have) or down the side.

Looks like glass plate CRT protection with CRT surround behind it if that's any use.
Other controls on the side ? (edge controls ?) Lawrence. |

Re: What tv is this??
I tend to agree. There seems to be an edgewise volume control and possibly a rocker type on-off switch above the VHF turret channel selector knob. The Decca DR41 I have have (Thorn 850 convertible chassis) has the same controls layout and a CRT with implosion plate glass in front, although it isn’t this set. Maybe a Ferguson/HMV/Ultra/Marconiphone equivalent model?

Re: What TV is this?
Hmm, that's quite a tricky one but I've had a rummage through some brochures and I'm going to stick my neck out and say its a Philco with a Thorn chassis. It definitely has the rather minimal look of an 850 series as suggested by John and Dazzlevision.
The grille appears to be dark in the brochure (the set is on the left) but it may have just been illustrated that way for clarity, unless one of the Ferguson/Marconi/Ultra/HMV versions was the same but for a silver grille.,, What do you reckon? Re: What TV is this?
I'm sure it's an 850, I remember working on them at Granada in the early 70s, which probably means it was badged Red Arrow, or Robinson Rentals.

Re: What TV is this?
I believe Graham G3ZVT could be correct, it looks familiar to me. A Granada Tv Rental reboxed Thorn 850, your Grandparents must have had the one that worked !!!
