Default Re: Grundig 5040W/3D loudspeaker.

Hello everyone,

A big thank you to you all for your observations, opinions & contributions. The information supplied by http://www.hifimuseum.de/ls-philosophien-1953.html, kindly provided by roffe, appears to confirm the suggestions made regarding the modification or reduction of low frequency output. The loudspeaker frame is indeed made of a rigid plastic - I was surprised how light it was when I removed it from the baffle and discovered why. I was disappointed by this at first but I am beginning to see that it was not a cost cutting measure - maybe a well braced rigid plastic frame is less resonant than a thin metal frame. It appears that a lot of design & engineering went into the production of these radio loudspeakers in an attempt to provide the best possible reproduction. How fascinating. Thank you again to you all - I'm most grateful.

S.
