Default General Electric P 795E

Just bought this radio in great condition. Sold as not working. So worked a bit of magic on it with my limited experience ie put some batteries in it, and radio is also working well added bonus with my limited knowledge. Have only found limited information on it, radio museum dates it between 1961/64 and I came accross a one page service sheet with a year of 1960 on it. Does anyone have any other info on this radio. Have added a few pics and one with it next to a KB FB10 to give an idea of its size. I also took delivery today of a PYE 1355 in great condition and fully working, but thats getting of topic.

I had a similar GE radio! Mine was a 1958 model using a plastic cabinet. The performance was amazing for a minimal four transistor circuit, plus using "D" cells, the battery life was excellent.

Hello Dave all the way from the USA, I was also quite surprised at how well it sounds, just like the old saying good things come in small packages.

Did you buy it from the US? Most American transistor radios weren't sold in Britain.

Some manufacturers did use class A amps to save the cost of a couple of transistors, but the short battery life and limited output limited interest. They survived longer in car radios.

Bought it from a uk seller on ebay. There seems to be quite a few sellers on abay selling multiple vintage radios which I guess are from house clearances. A warning to all collectors sell or donate them before you pop your clogs or your prized collection can end up on ebay or in the skip. You cant take them with you, but you can decide where they go.
