What was Indicator Type 304 used in
I have this indicator in my collection and cannot find any references as to it's use.
It was modified sometime during it's service life as the type number on the nameplate has been erased. The original Ref No. is 10QB/60, but the replacement plate says Type 304 ref 10QB/6499 Modified from Indicator type 42 Mod RMC531/1 The tube it's self does not have any markings but is 2 1/2" across. Thanks Nick |

Thanks GMB,
Not something that I currently collect, but it can sit in the loft awhile. Nick |

What an interesting story, Downing was killed by friendly fire while testing the effects of Chaff on the Mk. IX.
It also had a Heads up display. I'll have to learn more about the developments of radar. I can't find the Air Publication that you mention though. |

Re: What was Indicator Type 304 used in
Nick,
It looks like the Indicator Type 42 was developed for AI MkV, as an improvement to AI MkIV, and then used in MkIX as GMB says, where it became Type 304. The National Archives at Kew hold a copy of A.P.2892E, but it won't be cheap to request a copy of it! Expect a PM from me. Andy |
