Anybody able to help?
Hope this is in the right section mods.
I spotted this letter in my Merchant Navy Officers Union journal. I know there's some ex R/O's in the group and others with an interest in marine radio comms, so probably they'll know already? Andy. (ex Chief Off). |

The forum software will resize any JPG images you upload. To preserve the original resolution, put them into a PDF document, or put them in a ZIP archive. Size limits apply there of course, but the files won't be modified.

Re: anybody able to help?
Done it Paul, many thanks for the advice.
I think the thread may belong in another section of the forum? Mods please act accordingly. here's a zip file of the article/letter Hopefully someone here will either already be aware of this historic equipment or will be able to help find it an appropriate new home? Andy. |

Re: Anybody able to help?
Hi.
I fired off an email to the Liverpool Maritime Museum today for the attention of the curator. I received a reply which said that the recipient was out of the office but I will be contacted as soon as. I think its important that this collection is kept together and put on display in a dedicated facility. Will let you know what happens, hopefully very soon. Ed. |

Re: Anybody able to help?
Thanks for that Johnny.
Some of the kit I remember being installed on vessels I served in. I hope it finds a home and doesn't get stashed in a private collection or in a storeroom. I have quite strong feelings about preserving our maritime heritage, it dismays me that in the space of a generation this nation of ours has become more or less totally ignorant of the existence of a merchant navy and the contribution and sacrifices made by its members in both times of war and peace. And maybe we will wake up and "smell the coffee" and realise that reliance on third party services for vital and strategic resources might not end happily when the chips are down, so to speak. Andy. |

Re: Anybody able to help?
I understand it has all been collected by Internal Fire Museum of Power (well, certainly some of it was there when I visited yesterday)
