Re: Pye Piper P116U
Hi Rover99 do you have a multimeter?
This is an AC/DC set with a "live chassis" Ideally you would connect the wire that goes to Chassis (after the mains switch) to the Neutral. These sets were often connected to unpolarised plugs where it was pot luck as to which side was live or neutral and the set will work either way around on AC mains although there would sometimes be more noise one way as opposed to the other. Has this set been restored? If not there are a few things that would benefit being checked and possibly replaced prior to switching the set on. Cheers Mike T

Re: Pye Piper P116U
It seems you may have very little experience in restoring Valve radios so please don't be offended.
Paul did an excellent guide to radio repairs but it's a lot to take in if your new to it. https://www.vintage-radio.com/repair...ion/index.html On your set there is at least one capacitor that might go off with a bang if you connect power. C26 on the manufacturers service Data See if you can post some clear pictures of the back of the on off switch we might be able to see which is which Cheers MIke T
