Re: Grub screws
I bought 4BA grub screws off Ebay for my 1930s EKCO.

Re: Grub screws
A bit of cut and pastery rather suggests M3 as the most likely candidate!

Re: Grub screws
No. There are plenty of BA screws still available.

Re: Grub screws
Yes, but those screws don't look like 4BA or 5BA. I wonder if the holes have been retapped or metric screws forced in? They appear to be screwed directly into the plastic with no steel of brass insert.

Sounds like 6BA to me.

Re: Grub screws
Could well be, looking at the pics again. The diameter one is a bit vague, there could well be 0.2mm of "shadow" in there. 47.9 vs 50.8 TPI isn't very obvious over 5mm either.

Re: Grub screws
Thanks to Alan (Stepney) who has very kindly sent me some screws, of which one fits, I'm sorta sorted.
I'll try and saw a slot in one of the screws I have that fit the thread for the other knobs. Many thanks to all |

Re: Grub screws
I was unsure of the size & thread so put a small assortment in an envelope, on the basis that at least one should fit!

Re: Grub screws
Were they labelled in any way? I'm interested to know what thread it eventually turned out to be!

Re: Grub screws
No. I have a tin full of assorted grub screws, all the odd ones I have collected over the years and this was a small (and somewhat rusty) assortment from them.
I also have some boxed and labelled (metric and BA) but as I was unsure of the thread, this seemed an easy solution. |
