Hi.

In my Towers' International MOSpower and other FET Selector book, it states the 2SK41E as having a BF256A or a 2N5246 as substitutes.

Regards
Symon.

Just watch out for different pin orientations

Just looking at the attached datasheet, I wonder if the 2sk19 might be useable?
That was popular in FM front ends in its day and I'm sure I have some, as may many others. Wonder what you need it for?

Not so simples, none in the uk , all are usa and postage is twice the cost of the transistor making it £20 a transistor infact 2 of the ones listed are showing £166 postage

My ECA comparison tables book (12th edition 2001) lists BFS70, 2N3821, 2N5246 & 2SK161 as comparable to the 2SK41.

I don't know what the significance of the E suffix is, perhaps pin-out or a selected parameter group and so the E may be important in your application.

Is it the RF amp; that was quite a common thing? I have a front end from a Leak Delta tuner that uses the 19. I can let you have a 2SK19GR (see the data sheet I posted) if you want to try that. I think I'm right in saying that the J-fets, especially the early ones, were notoriously inconsistent and variable devices in terms of manufacture and so the specs are quite "nominal" anyway. Happy to pop one in the post if you send me your address via PM.

The specs on JFETs were wider than the proverbial barn door. If you just need something with a decent chance to try, 2N5245 ought to have a good chance as I suspect the E suffix is one at the high end of the spread for Idss and Gfs.

2N4416 is another good VHF front end device, but lower Idss and Gfs.
