Default Ultra ID (et4011?)

I've just spotted this on the market - can someone please confirm that it's an ET4011?

If so, is it two bands or three? The grill is actually gold although it looks cream in the pictures.

Are there any common faults to look for? I've never seen a radio with a dropper resistor before.

Thanks.

I have a T401 and i'm not sure if you can tell from the front the difference between the 401 and 4011. In fact i can't see a difference between the 2 on RMorg either ... i must be missing something obvious

They both appear to be 3 band AC only no mains dropper.

The 401 was easy to work on and performs well. It is very heavy for a small set and would need well protected if it's being posted.

Thanks for the quick reply John, the dropper may be my mistake made when I was searching the Web.

Part of the reason I posted was because I couldn't tell the difference between the two radios you've highlighted!

I'll keep researching...

The ET4011 appears more often on foreign websites so maybe its an export version?
I thought the radio stations on the dial would help but although it looks like there are 2 versions both versions appear on the T401.

You'll just have to buy it to solve the mystery

I guessed it was for British use by the stations on the dial, but now I'm not sure!

BTW, that's a lovely collection of radios on your website. I've also got the Murphy A372. Very pretty!

I'll report back in a couple of weeks and let you know what I find.

Thanks, the pictures aren't great and the web site is basic but it serves its purpose ... when time permits I'd like to do something better

There is an AC/DC chassis version in the T401 cabinet but can't remember the model number off hand.

I was under the impression that the 4011 was the export version of the T401, but could be wrong. Pretty sure they use the same chassis. These sets are relatively straightforward to restore and are pretty good performers too. IIRC there was one waxy below the oscillator tuning assembly that was notoriously tricky to get at as it's pretty much buried by wiring. Takes some patience but the end result is well worth it.

Thanks,
Peter
