Default Metamec Electric mantle clock ID please

Hi All.

I've recently acquired this lovely electric Metamec mantle clock. I'm trying to find out more about it and date it if possible. It has 43 stamped into the wood on the bottom surface.
It's keeping good time but silent. I've tried turning the tick/silent knob but it doesn't make an audible tick at all.
Any suggestions to hear it in all its former glory and get it ticking again?

Many thanks

The 'artificial tick' on these is not a pleasant sound!
It is only useful to establish whether or not the clock is running. Other than that, it's strictly a 'let's pretend' device, best left to the likes of Jeremy Clarkson!

That's useful to know, thanks. I shall leave it be then. That's saved me some hassle!
Any suggestion on a date or model number anyone?

Hello and welcome.

It's model 782, priced £3-7-6 including PT.

The movement is their first type, introduced late 1945.

Nick.

Hi Bone,

would it look nicer if a more original looking mains lead were fitted?

I recently restored some antique Table Lights and doing this made all the difference.

Hi all.

I was thinking just the same thing and get myself a period piece of cord. Any suggestions what would be most appropriate? I've become quite attached to this clock already!

Hi Bone, search for: silk braided electrical flex

The bronze brown here is the one I purchased:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ELECTRICA...yrQGOBlffYx60w

This seller offers a number of interesting associated items. There are other sellers.
Additionally I needed 3 core, whereas you may only need 2 core.

The dimension to watch, is outside diameter of the cable, in that will it go through any existing holes. This was important for me, as the antique Lamps I rewired were all metal and/or marble.

I used black 13 amp Black plugs, however the Lamps have since been taken to the Czech Republic, so maybe have been changed.
