Lettering replacement
Hi,
In the process of renovating a Sugden A21 and find that the lettering for the rear inputs have worn away. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas of how I can replace them. |

Re: Lettering replacement
This is from a Hifi News review. Oh for the days of Lettraset!
If you search for waterslide transfer on the forum you'll get an idea of what can be done.

Re: Lettering replacement
There are still wide ranges of dry-transfer letters available, so I'd have a go! It might be easier than waterslide. I've tried the latter, but have just found my grandfather's stash of Letraset so will try it on my next labelling job.

Re: Lettering replacement
They make waterslide transfers for various brands of radios. I might suggest looking on some of the U.S. antique radio forums for the ones you need.
IIRC, There was available a special printer paper that you would use and could print your own labels that were waterslide. I don't remember the details as it was 10-15 years ago. |

Re: Lettering replacement
It's back. Must have been down for a short while when I tried it.

Re: Lettering replacement
This is available too. The website 'Mr Decal Paper' is commonly quoted. DavidG4EBT has posted a few detailed threads on his techniques for waterslide transfers from inkjet. I did this for a Cropico Thermocouple Potentiometer recently.

Re: Lettering replacement
Letraset requires a fair amount of skill - and sometimes luck - to get right. I'd go down the waterslide route and apply a dab of varnish over the top. TBH, Letraset is a greatly outdated product now, eclipsed by the possibilities of desktop publishing.

Re: Lettering replacement
Rear panel lettering on the OP's Sugden is white (on a black panel) that is complicated using DIY waterslide transfers.

Re: Lettering replacement
The link above has white letraset on page 8.
I've now got that site saved as favourites! Craig
