Default Another Kenwood Gourmet (FP600)

This one released the magic smoke last night, that much of it the wife took it outside.

The Mrs then started looking at new ones, but knowing it could be something very simple I said I would look at it today and fair enough one of the two X2 caps has blown, so time to get out the soldering iron again.

Just think of how much money between us we save by fixing and not binning and I wonder how better for the environment this actually is? I doubt we will ever make an impact on manufacturers not making surplus product.

My mother's new (plasticky) Kenwood Chef was so unsatisfactory I restored an A901 from Freecycle and gave it to her, which is now in daily use with the old new one given away. These things still cost hundreds of pounds!

The annoying thing was, it had not been in use for a few years, it had been sat in the cupboard until yesterday.
Needing to prep some ingredients for a meal it would have been useful if it had not gone ****! but fixed for the time being, But if it fails again!

Ours is an A532, how does that differ from an FP600?
I don't think it has ever developed a fault, perhaps I should replace its maind filter caps as a precaution.

The only difference from the outside is that the speed is completely variable with a slider, 'Variomatic'
This one had 0.1 and 0.15uF X2 caps quite wide pin spacing so I would have a look under the lids to see what board and size is fitted on yours.

My mother's A532 has been going since she got it as a wedding present. I've replaced the belt in the last month, and on another thread detailed the problems of finding new feet - the originals have decayed. I guess I could give it the RIFAectomy.
