Update on the All World Two or maybe not.
Well I have an update on the All World Two. I've decided not to go with the All World Two and go with the Amateur's Short Wave Two. Both units are built on the same chassis, but the Amateur's Short Wave Two is a lot more stable and not susceptible to hand capacitance. The circuit is very close to the Paraset's receiver. Besides I already have an Eddystone #1085 slo-mo drive that's used on the Amateur's Short Wave Two. I don't have the Die-cast chassis so I'm TIG welding one together. In the next couple of days I'll have some pictures of my progress.

Re: Update on the All World Two or maybe not.
Well I've started the rough-out stage of the build. This involves component placement, line-up and the boring of holes. Once this is done the radio will be dismantled and the chassis will be smoothed and finished. One big problem has been finding the correct valves that were used on the original (series "E" valves EF8 and EL3). Apparently these valves are very rare, let alone trying to find the the proper holders. With that said, I've decided to use the functional equivalent of these valves, the 6K8 and 6F6. The coil and valves will be mounted on ceramic holders. All in all the project seems to be progressing smoothly. The attachment are photos of my progress and the original.

I'm finally making some progress on the Eddystone replica. Even though not done yet, It's starting to come along pretty well.

Neat job, Gary. Your TIGging is better than my MIGging! Agreed that side-contact valves and holders would be difficult to get hold of.

Re: Update on the All World Two or maybe not.
Thanks for the reply Mike,
I was looking through one of my books (The Secret Wireless War) and a Ham, Bob King G3ASE, built a replica of the Eddystone Amateur's Short Wave Two that he used during WWII as a VI. The replica he built used a 6K7 as the detector. Besides I have about 20 of the steel type anyway. I could have used a chassis box from LMB or Bud, but they didn't have any that were close to the dimensions of the original. 73 Gary, KF9CM
