Default Marconiphone 4245 R2R Bracket Function

Trying to remember/work out what the function of the bracket shown in the photos is, as can be seen it has a threaded hole, as if a screw would screw into it (maybe to attach a ground wire ?).

It was quite a while ago when I took the machine apart and unlike me at the time did not take any photos showing the bracket.

As can be seen in the third photo, the metalwork of the top chassis sits on top of the bracket (makes metal to metal contact).

Default Re: Marconiphone 4245 R2R Bracket Function

I have just noticed in the Service Manual that it is identified as Item 13 Support bracket.
