Default Motorola MicroTac battery eliminator

Hello,
I am still trying to get my Motorola MicroTac 7500 to work. I have abandoned trying to use AAA batteries, as they don’t seem to be up to the job. I am currently looking into the prospect of battery eliminators, and have seen some, but unfortunately are not for sale. My question is can you use the car charger that plugs into the accessory port as a eliminator?

Any help much appreciated.
