Default My Regentone TR20 Restoration

Hello and thank you to all those who gave me their help and advice regarding my Regentone TR20 television restoration.

https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/showthread.php?t=215299

You will all be pleased to know that I survived the mains derived EHT. I purchased this set around a month ag0 it hadn't been powered up since around 1968 and the gentleman that I purchased it from had bought it at a house sale around 25 years ago and used it purely for ornamental purposes. The set cosmetically is in good condition, I have replaced a number of failed valves and other components in both the radio and television section and all wax and electrolytics capacitors have been re stuffed to preserve originality. The CRT, a Ferranti, turned out to be of excellent emission so happy days! This particular model of television I am told is quite a rare beast nowadays as not many of them have survived and what really drew my attention to it was the eye catching circular CRT design which I think is very American looking. Thank you also to Paul Stenning's website where I was able to download a schematic diagram, this made life so much easier I have attached some photos for all to see.

That's a striking looking set! If I had been a field engineer back then I would have been very nervous of removing that radio chassis with that heavy transformer just above the tube!
It certainly is a good strong bright picture. I find those metal clad TCC capacitors can be difficult to re-stuff. did you cut the end off the can or manage to draw the insides out of one end?

Rich.

It was a little concerning i must admit and it did cross my mind about damaging the CRT so i was extra careful just to make fully sure
