Default Can anyone identify this handset?

Folks,

I have just turned out this handset from a box of known German military phone handsets. So this one might be German. However it has no manufacturers name or type number anywhere that I can find. It does have a strange symbol on the handle, which might just be a chinese/japanese symbol (at a stretch).

Does anyone recognise this item please?
