If you have a DMM with a diode check facility, you can sort the Ge from the Si and spot (should you be lucky) the odd Schottky. Ge will read around 0.2V, Simon around 0.6V and Schottky somewhere in between around 0.4V. Simples
OA47 if you can find one is good (low Vf) but any old Ge will do, as will the B-E junction of a gash small signal Ge transistor. (Link C to B). Make sure it's the right way round in the set but you can use either PNP or NPN. If you want a couple of gash Ge diodes for £1 Inc postage, PM.....

But l think l am going to pass this set on to someone on here who has looked at my Sony, as l can't even locate the said diode. l did have some success tonight, l managed to repair another of my tiny sets, which picked up no stations at all. Replacing the capacitors cured this little set. |
