BT No 160 Rectifier help
I'm hoping one of you telecoms guys knows something to help!
I have these two No 160 Rectifiers, the adjustable one on the right has a fault but it's quite useful - 14 - 64 volts at 25A - the one on the left was bought because it's another No 160 but of course it's different! I'm trying to find an sort of circuit for either of them, has anyone got any information?

Hmmmm, it's not looking too hopeful.
Are these incredibly rare, or are they just not a known animal?

Re: BT No 160 Rectifier help
My guess is that BT issued a specification for these units and various compaines (Advance, Farnell,..) made items that met that spec. Internally they could be very different, but provided they met a particular test specification they would be deemed OK.
It is possible that BT never had a circuit diagram. I have run into this with GPO and BT Modems, test gear, etc. The THG have been no help in my cases and I couldn't find anything in the BT archives (to which THG members have access). The only way forward for me is to trace out the diagrams from the units. |

Re: BT No 160 Rectifier help
If anything like the predecessors, BT would have a diagram somewhere. Have you looked inside ( just an idea), as a lot of older stuff had some sort of diagram stuck to inside of case.
Saying that, I'd agree with Tony, that even way back in the late stages pre BT, kit was made to a spec, but not always similar internally. |

Have you looked at the 'Rectifier No 160' website?
Not often a Rectifier has its own dedicated website!! http://www.160rectifier.com/ |
