Default Maplin & Danbury Electronics

I spotted a thread under 'Parts Offered', listing Maplin LF Chokes, formerly made for Maplin by Danbury Electronics, but no longer stocked by Maplin. The chokes offered on the forum have now all been sold, but it might be worth noting that Danbury Electronics is very much alive and kicking and in its 23rd year of operation. All of what they made for Maplin over their 18 year relationship with them are still available, albeit Danbury don't supply direct to the public, but via the aptly named 'Living in the Past', which supplies transformers and chokes for valve amplifiers etc.

Danbury's website is here:

http://www.danburyelectronics.co.uk/fset6.html

(note the info on Maplin)

'Living in the Past' link is here:

Hope that may help someone out there.

(No connection with these or any other commercial outfits).

I stand to be corrected, but I'm sure Danbury supplied the output transformers for the 'Wadar' amps made by the BVW&TV Museum in recent years, and made Gerry a better spec one than the ones they made for Maplin. This I remember from chatting with Gerry when I purchased my superb amp from the museum back in 2004.

Yes, Gerry did used to use ( directly) Danbury for the output transformers on his range of amplifiers, I can remember the Museum ordering some.
