Re: Use Mains Tranny for Output Trany
A 15 Ohm speaker will work on an 8 Ohm output, with slight reduction in volume, the DC resistance is only at one point, when driven the speaker can exhibit a few hundred Ohms Impendance depending on frequency.

Re: Use Mains Tranny for Output Trany
Hi Geof, yes I realize that, but it's not the only reason. I'm just trying to do a bit of recycling, and make an amp up from old parts, on the cheap, as I'm only a beginner, so the price is a lot more than I want to pay. As well as that, I've got a few other speakers of different ohms I'd like to be able to experiment with to get different sounds.

Re: Use Mains Tranny for Output Trany
15 ohms is close enough to 16 ohms not to make much difference in practice.
