Default Schaub 5001 stabrelaywetted mercury switch faults

Has anyone attempted to either repair or replace those troublesome five legged mercury wetted switches in a Schaub 5001 with either a MOSFET or similar?

I understand the original were gas and mercury filled and worked similarly to a thermometer but they mostly failed when new.

Obviously this is a machine that nobody on here had had experience with or a polite enough to give an answer.

If you were to do a forum search using "5001" you will find that there have been several threads on these very interesting machines. You will see that Forum member Brymac has previously offered spares etc if contacted by PM.
Keep us informed on how you get on, there are plenty of partially working machines about looking to be fixed!

Mercury switches were primarily used as tilt switches, I've no experience with the 5001 though (it does look interesting though!), but isn't there a modern day equivalent that could be put to use?
