Collaro Studio with inboard motors
I said a while back that I'd never seen a Collaro Studio deck with the spooling motors moved inboard, giving a 15cm rather than 18cm spool capacity. Well, now I have - on an auction site, granted, but the spooling motors are clearly in the inboard position and the machine is used. So, it did actually happen!

Re: Collaro Studio with inboard motors
Well I'd wondered that myself (on and off...) ever since reading the initial PW announcement back in '59 or '60. So now we all know! Thanks.

Re: Collaro Studio with inboard motors
No trade mark on it - it's on an auction site - search Reel to Reel - about three days left.

Love the knob off a T1154 on the left of the deck!

To avoid messing around, for all Collaro fans, here's a photo of the aforementioned item.

Re: Collaro Studio with inboard motors
I don't recall in my researches any 5-3/4 Collaro decks being offered by mainstream makers, but this may well have been for export which turned up in a 'Lasky's clearance sale' offer. The case looks like a High Street radio-shop offering.

Re: Collaro Studio with inboard motors
If anybody has a 1961 Hi Fi Yearbook to hand, it may worth perusal. Everybody and his dog were offering BSR or Collaro-based machines, and I fancy one of those may have had this layout.

Re: Collaro Studio with inboard motors
I can't think of any like this with a side hinged lid!
