Re: Auction of TV's and radios.
Lowther speakers (acoustas I think, not just drivers)
Radford amp Linn LP12 Spendor BC1 Garrard 301 This auction has some things which could get lively. Auctioneers are likely to grade condition by the state of the cabinet varnish! so speakers could be not so good. I see the Philips tape deck, N4450 is described as Auto-reserve! David David

Worth a look though, some 1935 radios, and you can put a bid on remotely.

Re: Auction of TV's and radios.
As Julianh says lots of interesting sets including the not often seen for sale Cossor 62
I'm put off by the distance and the buyers premium (24%inc vat etc). That may be the norm these days though been many years since I bought anything at public auction. There is unfortunately nothing that makes me want to bid that badly. But hopefully these fine sets will find new homes. Cheers Mike T

Indeed. Although I would be interested in some of these things, given the nature of the articles, I would certainly want to take a look before bidding serious money. Newcastle and back for me is a show stopper (600 mile round trip )

Re: Auction of TV's and radios.
It's a long way but on unusually good roads - e.g. A34, M40, A43, M1, M18, A1(M). We routinely travelled Didcot-Morpeth for a long weekend in the the 1980s/90s/2000s when my parents-in-law were still alive and my brother-in-law would from time to time drive Oxford-Cramlington and back in a day, fitting several half a day's office work in between arriving and leaving ! I agree it's not justified just to check out some auction items though. The buyer's premium might well be lost in the cost of the petrol !
Cheers, GJ

Re: Auction of TV's and radios.
Hi Gents I believe this is only a part of Paul K's collection as he is now relocating.
The auction house must be keen as viewing is on the preceding Sun, Mon and Tue. Note that their porters are not noted for delicate handling so note condition at auction and when delivered to your car! Ed |

Re: Auction of TV's and radios.
Not the whole auction, but, yes, most of it. Only a local auctioneer could have taken on the very necessary task of sending a van repeatedly to carry away batches of radios etc. as I manoeuvred them to near the front door. And now back to filling more boxes with what's left...

You at least have other auctions within day-trip range. We have none. There is a quantisation effect at work Yes there is a smaller population, but opportunities aren't to scale. David

Re: Auction of TV's and radios in Newcastle
I asked for a condition report and further photos of Lot 2, a Radford preamp and power amp.
I was more interested in the power amp. Hoping it was an STA25, which it is, I was looking to place a bid but it's already up to £750. Too much for me, although these seem to go for thousands in good working order and cosmetic appearance. The seller will be pleased. |
