The Paraset
I'm thinking of having a go at building a "paraset" http://www.mines.uidaho.edu/~glowbugs/paraset.htm probably a small change in the heater supply to allow it to operate from a 12v battery and a transistorised inverter, don't have any 6SK7s but have a few 6K7Gs which seem to electrically identical except that g1 is the top cap connection. Although I have the circuit diagram, the problem is, I don't have any info on the amount of windings on the anode/tank coils of the 6V6, (except the one-turn connection for the bulbs) or the tapped coil on the 6SK7, has anyone built one of these?

Re: The Paraset
Hi Alf
An Interesting set. On that page there is a link (http://www.qsl.net/ik0moz/paraset_eng.htm) which gives an account of the construction of one of these. Including the winding details of the coils. But the winding details are not in English. Regards Frank |

Re: The Paraset
Just to refresh this thread - I am building one of these at the moment - no reason why everyone shouldnt have one in their collection - they are very easy to make.
The transmitter is a bit fussy, so I have changed the Oscillator circuit to a Colpitts type - much better than the "gimmick" capacitor for feedback! Will try to get some pictures posted as soon as time permits. Cheers Sean

Re: The Paraset
I don't think parasets were ever fitted in suitcases. Possibly they had a carry case made from haversack material.
Many spysets were of course fitted in suitcases, but I doubt they were a very effective disguise, as all the suitcases were alike. Apart from that when carrying say a B2 set you develop a distinct lean to one side, as the set is very heavy. Any alert German would have realised that you had more than your clothes in the case.
