Smile HP 1615A Logic Analyser. Manual Anyone?

Hello Folks,

Just got one of these and even though i should be able to work out how to use it, i would like to get hold of a manual (or at least an idiot users guide).
If anyone out there could help me with this it would be much appreciated.

Thanks very much,
Cheers,
Alan.

The Agilent web site doesn't have the manual but makes some suggestions:

This site will rent you one for 10 euros!! It sounds an odd deal but it might be worth an email.

The problem with a lot of old test equipment is that the equipment costs a fiver and the manual, without which you can't fix it, or maybe even use it, costs several times as much.

It was a time when there was a fad for contrived names that might mean something, but were jarring and meant nothing. I think this one was meant to imply Agile and Vigilent. I'm sure it cost a few million bucks to get a consultancy to dream it up and bag the domain names. Messrs Hewlett and Packard tossed a coin to decide whose name came first in the company name. Instead of wasting money, they could have just called the spin-off Packard-Hewlett.

Hi Alan,

If you haven't got there already then here are the links to the HP Journal articles. The first is high resolution the second low.

I've attached the 1980 Catalogue entry below.
