Default Fm Valve circuit anyone?

Hello,

I am trying to find a dedicated FM valve radio circuit that I can build. My wife listens to that band quite a lot so I thought I would attempt to build one. However, a quick search of the interent seems produce few possibilities.

Any ideas?

Carl

The JasonKit tuner might be one to try since it is by definition suitable for home building.

I have a circuit for it somewhere, I'll have a look.

It will be a bit like the JVT2, which you will find on my web site: http://home.btconnect.com/gmb/
But the JVT2 uses the special tuner which would be a bit hard to source I think.

This chap has some pulse counting demodulator designs and also some regen designs.:

I also have a wireless world design and a pw design (both pulse countng) that I can scan and e-mail if you are interested.

Many thanks indeed. I look forward to that circuit then GMB. I had a look at the JVT2 and that seems just about right, other than the reservation you mentioned about the tuner.

I would also like to have a look at those wireless wolrd designs you mentioned ParcGwyn, just so that I can have a few designs to choose from or perhapps mix and match a little.

Much appreciated!

I have managed to find the old magazines, unfortunately my memory was playing up and the Wireless World design is solid state but the PW design is valve I will scan the article this weekend and email you.

I'm afraid you will have to wait a while. I have just had a major disaster - my primary PC just dropped dead and the backup PC isn't working that well either.

OK, I have scanned the manual for the other kit tuner.
You can find it on my web site: http://home.btconnect.com/gmb/ under "FM Tuner Kit".

The snag is of course that it does make use of commercial parts including, yet again, a packaged front end.

Of course I do have one of these so I can supply further reverse-engineered data if required.

Hi.
How about a super regen circuit using Acorns, great fun but not so "wife" friendly.

Hi Carl, if you havent got what you need yet there were several designs for valve FM tuners in Radio Constructor in the 50's and 60's. These included details of the popular kits then available.
I think there was also a high spec desig published in Electronic Engineering in the same timeframe.
