Dansette (Garrard 2025) aux input mod? - UK Vintage Radio Repair and Restoration Discussion Forum

hi folks

i love the amp & speaker on my dansette/garrard all in one so much. i'd love to be able to plug in my ipod or laptop, too.

how difficult would it be to wire in an aux socket? my EE skills are fundamental at best, but i was thinking it may be possible to solder in and house a little external PCB amplifier or something like that, since there's so much room inside the unit. i believe it's solid state, and suppose the amp circuit is built to amplify phono stage only from the deck.

any suggestions welcome.

What type of Dansette do you have? Garrard 2025 is the Autochanger deck, not the complete record player per se. Not many Dansettes. epecially genuine Dansettes, were ever "solid state".

Unless it's one of the less common Dansettes with a mains isolated amplifier, adding any aux input for external sources would raise serious safety issues. A firm identity is required!

If it's a live chassis model, all is not lost. You can fit an internal Bluetooth module and power supply (see picture) and hook it up to on-off switch and volume control. Picture of one I've built attached

Dansette DRP30 “Prince” with “Rank” on badge at rear, maybe?

The only Dansette I have seen with a 2025TC is an early 70s amplified turntable with separate speakers. In which case it likely already has a Tape Input probably only requiring a DIN cable. But let's see what the OP can confirm.

The Prince had the non-TC version of the 2025.

It also had some kind of DIN socket for a stereo adapter, but I don’t know whether it worked as an input too.

I'm thinking this is probably a "dansette" rather than a "Dansette"...
