Re: Help with Dynatron Calvacade music centre
Hello all,
There must be more than one strain of Goldring 101. My cavalcade deck has a flat belt. Dimensions 110 mm folded 220mm total. Diameter don’t know no good at maths. Width 3 mm. This is the original belt. John. |

220mm circumference = 70mm diameter, John. D = Oce (Circumference) divided by Pi (nominally 3.1412). Conversely Oce = Pi x D

Re: Help with Dynatron Calvacade music centre
Thanks very much for all your advice. I'm pretty sure it's a flat belt I'll try and find a replacement online. I've ordered a bulk load from China but will also see if i can find the original.
If it's a problem with the synchronous motor, what's the best way of finding that out / fixing it? I guess it's to take it to a specialist repair person who will know a lot more than me Thanks again. Paul |

Hello,
Malvern belts. Is your belt 110mm when folded flat? If so I have two I will send if you can’t find one. Pm with details. John. |

Re: Help with Dynatron Calvacade music centre
This deck uses a synchronous motor and was fitted with a triangular belt which is no longer available. There is no speed adjustment.
The way the triangular belt works is that the pointed part fits into the groove of the motor pulley, whilst the flat portion is on the turntable hub. The belt does twist between the pulley and turntable hub but it stays with the same twist, ie 60 degrees between motor and turntable and -60 degrees between turntable and motor. For this reason a square belt is unlikely to work and could cause more problems than it solves. Most belts available today are 1.2mm square cross section which is probably too small to drive a heavy turntable, but more to the point, it probably will twist as the turntable rotates, which will be audible and annoying. It probably wouldn't last very long either. If you put a tighter belt on it, you run the risk of damaging the motor and possibly the turntable bearings. The only thing that might work is a flat belt which is just 3 - 4 mm wide and very thin, but again try finding one. |
