Garrard turntable identification help needed
I recently purchased this Plus O Gram unit with a Garrard turntable as pictured.
It is 78rpm only, with an ac motor marked for 100-130 & 200-250V 16 Watt. I haven't powered it up yet or done any testing. One obvious issue is that the arm doesn't return to the rest. I think it may have been forced towards the centre of the turntabe at some time. It looks fairly simple to loosen the clamp holding the arm and re adjust it. The cartridge is marked 2000 ohm and is also untested. Can anyone identify the turntable or provide any information on this deck? Thank you.

Looks like a Type E unit. Dates from around 1946. John.

Re: Garrard turntable identification help needed
Thanks John,
Removing the platter has answered my own question. It's a model S. I am guessing its probably from the 1940s. I have now tested the motor, which is fine. It could do with a clean and some lubrication. Suprisingly the rubber tyre on the idler seems good.

I haltingly restored one of these with lots of help from members some time ago - so this thread might help - https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...d.php?t=121284

Re: Garrard turntable identification help needed
My father had a very similar unit as a second record player in the late 1940's.
To start the turntable , the arm needed to be moved well over to the left which turned on a toggle switch. Moving the arm over to near the centre spindle either manually or under the action of the run out grooves re set the toggle to the off position. The pick up head worked fine into the gram inputs of the late 1930's Marconiphone radio we had. |

Re: Garrard turntable identification help needed
Just noticed an error in line 2 of the above.
It should read ----------------- well over to the right which turned on a toggle switch!! |
