Re: Philips 603 record player output transistors
Are there not any numbers on the transistors?

Re: Philips 603 record player output transistors?
Hi the transistor types are given on the radiomuseum
https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/philip...?language_id=2 To my surprise they are in the main Germanium It also has an integarated circuit in the audio side. https://www.radiomuseum.org/tubes/tube_sbf3a.html Cheers Mike T

That seems a good place to start!
The transistors are AC187 and AC188: http://85.144.192.2/nvhr/Philips_22GF603.pdf |

Re: Philips 603 record player output transistors?
Ouch! Looks like that circuit depends on lots of NFB to squash any crossover distortion. Maybe acceptable with Ge devices but still a bit naff.

Would be better to diagnose the fault rather than guess what it is.

In my experience the SBF3A is the likely problem.

On ebay for a heart stopping £28.99!
Plus you don't yet know what else it might want. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SBF3A-Inte...YAAOSwdSNZ4gLx Edit:- There is a suggestion at the bottom of that thread that you might get away with using a bog standard op-amp. |

Re: Philips 603 record player output transistors?
I would think that you could. There's nothing exciting about the circuit. It would be easier and better sounding just to substitute purpose made audio power amp chips, though, if a working repair is the aim, not restoration.

Re: Philips 603 record player output transistors?
Notwithstanding the previous posts, with a bit of luck Barry may be right and all he needs is the transistors. Please let us know the outcome.
