Are there not any numbers on the transistors?

Hi the transistor types are given on the radiomuseum

https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/philip...?language_id=2

To my surprise they are in the main Germanium

It also has an integarated circuit in the audio side.

Cheers

That seems a good place to start!
The transistors are AC187 and AC188: http://85.144.192.2/nvhr/Philips_22GF603.pdf

Ouch! Looks like that circuit depends on lots of NFB to squash any crossover distortion. Maybe acceptable with Ge devices but still a bit naff.

Would be better to diagnose the fault rather than guess what it is.

In my experience the SBF3A is the likely problem.

If so, that's bad news: http://www.philipsradios.nl/forum/in...hread&id=18786

On ebay for a heart stopping £28.99!

Plus you don't yet know what else it might want.

Edit:- There is a suggestion at the bottom of that thread that you might get away with using a bog standard op-amp.

I would think that you could. There's nothing exciting about the circuit. It would be easier and better sounding just to substitute purpose made audio power amp chips, though, if a working repair is the aim, not restoration.

Notwithstanding the previous posts, with a bit of luck Barry may be right and all he needs is the transistors. Please let us know the outcome.
