Re: Who Uses a B&W Set as their Only Television?
Brief but to the point and considering it was in the human interest slot at the end the story came across far better than has often been the case previously. The reporter seemed to have grasped how things worked and this was clearly explained. Editing and presentation notwithstanding, it does help when the interviewee has credibilty on camera and this was the case. The only attempt at humour was the b+w fade at the end but that was amusing, appropriate and in context I thought. I wondered why they didn't mention you were a vintage enthusiast, as well as a b+w viewer John but perhaps they thought that was all too obvious in the footage? Excellent

Re: Who Uses a B&W Set as their Only Television?
Yes that was great fun and the picture on the Ekco came over very well. [It is stunning live] Glad you liked the switch off! The EHT Metrosil discharges the EHT far too quickly for a really vintage effect. The 15" Triode CRM152B gives the twisting effect. The editing was quite slick and I'm glad they showed a full length shot of that console!
[Crazy old nutter living in a time warp back in 1952 with black and white television. At least the house didn't pong of cat wee..] Thanks for your comments guys! Regards, John. |

That was great to watch, well done! I bet alot of people are wondering just how it's possible, despite the explanation! Out of curiosity how many were on the crew and did you get makeup?!

Re: Who Uses a B&W Set as their Only Television?
I think it quite well done, they even mentioned the Freeview box and 'converter' needed to watch TV.
the Ekco looked great by the way! I liked the comment from about the best way to watch a B&W movie, was on a B&W set. Very true as we all know. Mark |

Just tried to find it in ITV player. News at Ten seems to be missing from the list of programs for last night.

Managed to record it via FreeSat in Hi-Def on my Linux Box. Now need to watch it on my 405 9-90UB! A converter was mentioned on the show. What converter do you use? |

Re: Who Uses a B&W Set as their Only Television?
John,
Another 5 mins of fame Watched it this morning before I went to work, was a little confused as I was expecting to see Jerry in his white coat. Interesting the way the picture collapsed at switch off.... Steve.

Re: Who Uses a B&W Set as their Only Television?
But at least if you had a Sky box you can get the not so local BBC channels in the upper 900's. I'm sure someone can youtube it for those that did not see it live. ( after confirming copyright etc.)
Edit... Sorry it was ITV not BBC

Re: Who Uses a B&W Set as their Only Television?
A quiet news day, maybe. Can't find an ITN link, but 'About Anglia' gave this story an Eastern Counties twist...
http://www.itv.com/news/anglia/2014-...love-old-sets/ ...bit upset about the VT4 with 'FST' Innards, although they still look like they were robbed from a Pye. |
