Default Steve Marriot

Saw this on-line and thought it was interesting enough to share.
Steve Marriot from The Small Faces listening to his latest Demo Tape maybe?
And that lovely TV set behind him.
Any thoughts on Model Numbers for them?

James.

Looks like a GEC but is the photo reversed, should the controls be on the right of the CRT?

Possibly. That might make sense with the Reel to Reel also as the bit of Tape sticking out of the Reel would normally be on the Take Up Spool, on the right (?).

It is the wrong way round - the big knob on the Wearite deck in the Vortexion tape recorder should be on the left. That may be a WVB...

Hi,
It's interesting to note that there appears to be two flexes attached to the mains plug. A popular pastime back in the days of very few sockets in the average home.
Cheers, Pete.

I have a few new four lead mains plugs for the workshop (tip!) wired with IEC connectors, brilliant for test gear.

Most certainly a GEC dual standard monochrome set- brand new when the photo was taken, by the look of things!

Great pic, love The Small Faces too!

I was going to plump for a 25" Ultra Bermuda but I guess I'm wrong there as Steve will no doubt know better than me.

Cheers

There was also a Sobell badge engineered version of that set, I had one in the late 70's in my bedroom, good performer.

GEC model 2014 as a guess? Doesn't appear to have a PVC Feinbridge guard protected CRT so might be a slightly later model.

Incidentally this great band were never credited as The Small Faces on their original records.

Brilliant photo James, many thanks for uploading it.

I was pretty sure it was GEC/Sobell, the only one I ever saw was the faulty one they gave me for the C&G course 48 final practical, many years ago. I found it an easy set to fault find on especially as I had not seen one before.

Hi
yes it is a GEC set
My parents rented one when I was a youth. Fortunately it was rented as within 2 years the line timebase panel caught fire and the set was scrap.
Ours had blue and silver trim though.

The 2017 I had was styled identically yet was coloured petrol blue/green and silver with the words, "19" Television... FM Radio", at the top.
