Looking for an RF modulator to connect a Beta/VHS/DVD to a 1973 Sony Trintron TV
I just won the bid on a lovely looking Sony KV-132OUB 12 inch Colour TV set. However, I understand it only has a single RF Ariel input given the age of the set, meaning I can only connect my VCR or Betamax or DVD player and not all at the same time
Can anyone recommended a RF demodulator so I can hook up a couple of devices into the set? I've seen ones ranging from about £30 to over £200. Given that its an old set and a small screen I don't think I really need anything particularly high end. Thanks Ryan |

If the VCR is fairly modern (has the usual pair of SCART sockets), you could use it as the main RF modulator by daisy-chaining devices, e.g:
DVD player to the VCR's first SCART socket [EXT1/ AV1*] Betamax to the VCR's second SCART socket [EXT2/ AV2*] VCR's RF Out to the TV. *select required A/V input on the VCR to view.

Yeah the VCR is a 2004 Panasonic Machine, my Betamax is a 1984 Sanyo VTCM40 Beta Hifi Machine, but it does have a BNC connector on it, basically like what a lot of consumer CCTV cameras still use and I did have this hooked into my 4K TV via composite av cables.
I might give this a try first and see if it works. |

If the Sanyo also has an RF output, you can daisy chain the two VCR's via RF (Sanyo RF out in Panasonic RF in, Panasonic RF out goes to the TV) and also use the Panasonic as a modulator (not demodulator) for your DVD through its SCART input. Make sure to set the modulator of the beta to a different frequency (for example Panasonic on channel 36, Sanyo on channel 33).

Just like to say it’s working perfectly fine.
The VCR working perfect as a demodulator with my DVD and beta Machine. I downloaded some old seventies idents, close downs and adverts and it’s like a 1970s overload Thanks Ryan |

Looks nice! Just so you know, the DEmodulator is in the set, otherwise known as the tuner. What you're using to make a picture is called the modulator.
