New here, just wanting to share something I built.
I'm from Canada, got my amateur license recently.
I'd been working on trying to build my station 1920s/30s style. This is the receiver I've built. I'm using Cossor battery-powered valves in it and I've been enjoying quite impressive performance, receiving commercial broadcasts from Taiwan and Russia here in Canada on it! (The following links are on my home computer/server, it gets shut off during the night and turned on again during day time - GMT-5 my locale - so if the links to photos don't work, please try again.) (general link, access to all of the project files) http://99.239.146.96/Projects/Miniloop_radio/ (basic schematic) http://99.239.146.96/Projects/Minilo...o/Miniloop.png (specific photo links to the set) http://99.239.146.96/Projects/Minilo...iloop_V3_1.JPG http://99.239.146.96/Projects/Minilo...iloop_V3_2.JPG http://99.239.146.96/Projects/Minilo...iloop_V3_3.JPG The "Battery Eliminator" provides 5VDC and 100VDC output, overload protected and very well filtered. I built it out of scraps. http://99.239.146.96/Projects/Minilo...nator/BE_1.JPG http://99.239.146.96/Projects/Minilo...nator/BE_2.JPG http://99.239.146.96/Projects/Minilo...nator/BE_3.JPG (how I made the variocouplers out of scrap cardboard tubing and molten wax, I made two - one to experiment with, the other to use in final build) http://99.239.146.96/Projects/Ham_co...iocoupler1.JPG http://99.239.146.96/Projects/Ham_co...iocoupler2.JPG http://99.239.146.96/Projects/Ham_co...iocoupler3.JPG (the basic loop structure and loop resonator completed, again sealed with molten wax) http://99.239.146.96/Projects/Ham_co.../Miniloop1.JPG |

PS: I neglected to mention that my CAD program displays only two American valves, 6AQ5 and 12AX7. I used those in drawing the schematic. So the displayed pin numbers will not match the Cossor valves.

Re: New here, just wanting to share something I built.
I'm disappointed that no one else has responded here, but I really like the circuit Geo came up with using Cossor valves. I have a couple of 210s I bought on ebay and perhaps I can find a 215SG so I can build a similar radio. I have been wanting to build a radio using British valves myself. I've just been waiting for the right circuit to come along. I also have HL2s, PM2s and PM1s to use in other radios. Perhaps, I'll also build a one valve radio with a HL2. Bob Wilson has a nice one valve radio plan in his ebook.

Not seen this previously Norman-still haven't as I can't seem to get it to download! Combined with [perhaps] less pre-xmas activity on site this might be an explanation! Cheers Dave W

This is weird - I just tried again and they all download perfectly now. What is happening here
I've just started building up a stock of old valves too with the same aim in mind so many thanks VE3GZB, 73, Jim |

Geo - you need to post the graphics in the accepted way using attachments - have a look in FAQs above.
The problem is that the links on the PC you are using is probably closed down at night - when we are all up and about here! It's better is we can see the thumbnails rather than having to trawl through links, as well. Thanks

Geo,
I've taken the liberty of putting in a couple of connection "blobs". Nice interesting circuit - this is what Vintage Radio is all about! What's the story behind L3 and L4? Jim |

Re: New here, just wanting to share something I built.
I'm closing this thread now, folks, as it mainly consists of the problems with links to images that we cannot see.
We'll look forward to seeing a new thread using the normal attachment system.
