Cigarette card radio
Hi all,
I've almost finished building the a TRF receiver from the instructions given in a series of Godfrey Phillips cigarette cards entitled "How to build a two valve set". These were issued in 1929, or thereabouts. I wonder if anyone else has attempted this, or something similar? It would be interesting to know how many sets were built at the time - possibly an example might have turned up at auction.

Re: Cigarette card radio
What a great project. I like the way you have reproduced the old rear view with your own shot. Would it be possible to produce a scan of the instructions and upload as a PDF?
Les.

Re: Cigarette card radio
Were the specified valves Mullard PM series? The paper labels on the bases in the card pic look very like the "There is almost no glow....." ones seen on some PM types.

Re: Cigarette card radio
Thanks for the comments. The cards were a present from my wife and, having quite a large collection of 1920s components, I'd been promising to do this for some time. I've just uploaded a picture of the reverse of the cards to my website. It can be accessed from: http://www.tibblestone.com/oldradios...ette_cards.htm
Sorry about the out of focus bottom row - I'll try to get a better picture shortly.
