GEC 60s TV in Norwich
Hi all
For anyone who's interested I have spotted a GEC mono s/s TV model number BT336 for sale in a shop in Norwich. The set is in pristine condition with the speaker on the left and the controls on the right. No price tag on it, but mains lead still fitted but plug cut off. The shop is 'Loose's' in Magdelain Street, which is a huge emporium of everything that SWMBO or HWMBO probably wouldn't want to give houseroom too. I have got a pic, but its on my iPhone so I'll try and upload it later. Cheers Mike |

Wow, I have the brochure for that model but have never seen one.
Are the shop's prices generally reasonable from what you could tell Mike or are they strictly in the 'rare collectors item' bracket? Steve EDIT: Ah, I see they have a website.... Last edited by Colourstar; 25th Jan 2015 at 3:50 pm. |

Hello,
Yes, it is most certainly a rare set and is one model in that last "pure GEC" range of in-house designed and built TVs, after GEC merged with Radio & Allied Industries (the Sobell, McMichael company). Regards, Dazzlevision |

Re: GEC 60s TV in Norwich
Hi Steve
Its the sort of place where individual sellers have areas within the shop and you pay at the front for everything. The place is a bit pricey on some items, other things are dirt cheap, but if this is a set your after or have been after for a while then the price is irrelevant. Go in and have a look, its a fascinating place and loads of interesting bits and bobs to seek out. |

That type of place occasionally yields some (relative) bargains. At the one near us, I got a white DAC90A in VGC (albeit with tiny crack in the usual place) for £40 and a GPO 332 'phone in similar condition for £35. So definitely worth a glance.
