Smile Regentone U22 Drive cord

I have a " Trader" service sheet for this set which shows drive cord details for a single drive cord. However this set has a cord from tuning spindle to drive drum, and another cord from the drive drum to drive the cursor over the scale. Has anyone got the details of the 2 cord system please. Hope someone can help. Peter.

So, to be clear, there are 2 grooves on the tuning spindle?
I can find no other U22 details other than trader sheet 855.

There is a thread in the archive of Vintage Radio and TV forum.

http://www.forum.radios-tv.co.uk/vie...php?f=3&t=5360

which seems to imply that it originally was only one cord and how to string it as such.

Not sure which Trader sheet you are looking at but Trader sheet 855 shows the drum and the pointer both driven from a single length of cord.

EDIT: Post crossed with Sam's.

Yes it is Trader sheet 855.

Only one groove on tuning spindle. Peter.

Yes, Peter, but if it has 2 cords, there must be 2 grooves in the tuning spindle, you cannot put 2 cords into 1 groove.
If the layout is as the thread I gave you on the other forum, then it should be possible to lace it as 1 cord.

Cord> spindle to drum.

Another cord> drum to cursor.

As I understand it.

Looking at the picture on radiomuseum the cursor cord appears to be crossed above the tuning drum:

Only one length of cord, tied into a loop at the spring which attaches to the tuning capacitor drum. It is explained in the notes.
The diagram seems very clear to me.

Another difference is that the single cord system has two pulleys at the top right and 2 cord system has one pulley at top right. Peter.

How many springs are there Peter?
If the drives are separate using the drum as the common part, there must be a way of tensioning them both.
With only one spindle groove, the drum edge must be wide enough and able to carry both cords side by side.
Could the single top right pulley carry 2 cords? They would have to turn it in the same direction.
