Hello there, I have inherited a radio/record player (?) and I don't know what it is or what it does
Could any of you clever peeps help me to identify? |

Re: ID assistance wanted - Fidelity/Monarch?
It looks like a Fidelity HF10 record player, manufactured to play mainly vinyl records:

Re: ID assistance wanted - Fidelity/Monarch?
Nice old unit dating from circa 1958. I wouldn't try to plug it in as there are parts that will have deteriorated and may well go bang!
Plus, the pick up cartridge (the bit that holds the needle) is likely dead through age,and is in any case not suitable for playing modern LP records and will need to be changed for a more recent type. If you like the look of the player and want to use it, I'd consider having it restored by a local forum member.

Re: ID assistance wanted - Fidelity/Monarch?
What's extremely unusual about this player is it's the only one I know of to have such a large speaker - it's an 8" circular - driven by a single-stage amplifier. I have one exactly the same and after about 45 mins the bass (such as it is in these) really does come through.
