Well I'm in Milton Keynes and I think I'll probably attend.
I need to run my motorbike as it's been resting over the winter, but it'll be nice to meet up and say hello to some other forum members if thats OK ? ? ?

Regards

Sean,

I'm glad the thread has been re-opened, just so that I can report that my contact at the Black Country Museum doesn't hold out much hope of a workshop being held there, due to lack of a suitably large hall that could be reserved for the workshop - the buildings are, of course, primarily open for the benefit of paying visitors!

However the Museum has expressed interest in fostering closer links with the BVWS in the future, so I'll be following this up and will report back in a new thread in due course.

Dave, are you coming to add you expert eye to a few faults then? - you will be more than welcome!

Phil, Thats bad news, however Chas at Radiophile has mentioned he would run another workshop if anyone in the Midlands is interested, failing that there must be a number of village halls that will suffice?

Cheers
Sean

I'm thinking It may be possible for an audio stream if I can get the 22 set working fairly early on!
I'd use my o2 dongle but I don't think my credit would last

Hi Workshoppers

The nearest post Code for the Village Hall is "SG9 9QW"
This is a house next door to the recreation field so very close. The link will hopefully make it clearer or if that doesnt work google maps does a very good sat pic showing the hall and where the postcode arrives at.

I could bring my Flip video camera to record selected moments and post it on the Facebook group and/or YouTube?

By all means - your choice entirely.

You could also bring some service data CDs...... who knows you might find a few customers

Sean,

I consider myself as 'competent' rather than an 'expert', but as mentioned in my initial post I would be quite happy to assist others with less experience. I am qualified as an electrical engineer and have been repairing mainly domestic valve sets for the last five years or so.

Otherwise I will identify some sets in my own round-to-it pile to bring along and work on.

Best regards,

Richard

I for one am really looking forward to this, it will be great to "radio bashing" with a load of like minded people!
I am going to bring my Pye Fenman which needs de Hunting. I may also bring my Atwater Kent radiogram chassis which has an elusive crackle.
That or a Bush Tv24 , anyone else taking any Tv sets?

Rich.

Richard,

Thanks, and it is entireley up to you - I intend to do a bit of both, fixing my own, as well as helping others, so we can get the best of both worlds.

Im bringing a TV - a D/S Stella - Steve P reckons he will get it sorted for me!

My cheque is in the post to you. I didn't want to call myself an "expert" though I am more than happy to help other people and feel I'd stand a reasonable chance of getting most sets working.

Although I'm bringing a couple of sets, they are mainly to fill any spare time. I don't need help sorting them out and I don't mind at all if they don't get fixed. I'd rather spend the time getting involved with other participants and their sets.

Hi Sean,
I'm very much a novice and I am very much looking forward to the event.
I'm not sure what to bring - I've the little champion set that I am working on which I have to put an autotransformer in (as provided by Ed Dinning), I'm not using any dropper etc. I could bring my Dremel along to drill the holes on the chassis to take this but will this be a bit too much to bring along??

Otherwise, i could bring a couple of Bush sets (e.g. DAC90a) along as well/instead of??

I'll post a cheque to you shortly.

Regards

Rob

Hi Rob,

Bring anything you fancy doing - if we need to do some minor metal bashing that shouldnt be too much of a problem - I will try to remember some sheet metal punches.....

Could everyone else (especially novices) list the sort of sets they are bringing, as well as list any shortages they have in either tools, equipment, or components.

Could I also ask everyone that wants help to ensure they have some service info for their set - Paul offers a fast, and very reasonable service, and should have service data for most sets that exist on the planet! - click on the link in the top right hand corner and get ordering!

Cheers
Sean

I'll be bringing:

An un-restored Bush DAC90A
An alleged restored Bush DAC90A for an expert opinion
A Hacker Sovereign II with tone controls that do not work consistently

I have a soldering iron and screwdrivers but not sure what else to bring - any suggestions please?
