Re: TV meetup in Solihull and collection of bits-and-bobs.
The pictures were really excellent, I have saved them to my hard disk and they will be useful for me to put faces to names that I didn't know before.
I am hoping that perhaps next year I can drive into the depths of England and head to more events. Good Work Mike.

It sounded like a great day out, I would have liked to come but family commitments came first.

Re: TV meetup in Solihull and collection of bits-and-bobs.
Hi Mike
I obviously missed a good day! That CVC1 is certainly in great condition and you don't have any crusty PCBs to worry about. Do I see a CVC2 in the background? How is the CTV162? I know it's not a 174, but is an object lesson in how to fold all the panels from a 25" and fit them in a small box! I never had too much success with the Bush duals - the colours weren't as good as the other makes IMHO. However you've proved me wrong on the Pye hybrids before... Must try and make to next meeting. I have a couple of good shots of the CVC1 in action Mike, I will send them to you.
Cheers

Re: TV meetup in Solihull and collection of bits-and-bobs.
[You should have taken out the CRT and given it to Chris to hold I think there would have been a Jon shaped hole in the wall.
(This will only be meaningful if you were at the NVCF a few years ago when Chris, Jon and a few others were gathered near the entrance with a CRT....) I noticed a unicycle next to the wasking room and wandering if anyone would like a go on it holding that big round colour CRT that in the living room!!!! I did suggest putting my head in the empty Ekco cabinet with the implosion screen in place and using it like a divers helmet!!! Christopher Capener

Re: TV meetup in Solihull and collection of bits-and-bobs.
Here is the pic of the CVC1, it is a stunning set, unfortunately to capture the screen shot the rest of the set comes out dark, covergance and tube emmision are brilliant.
Cheers

Great pictures. The only regret I had of the day was not taking a few pictures myself especially of that magnificent ITT/KB CVC1.

Re: TV meetup in Solihull and collection of bits-and-bobs.
Whoops, just found a 1969 press advert for a Pye dual standard colour set NOT in Mikey's collection! Sorry mate!
This must have been the model after the Olympic. Gone is the screen mask in favour of push-through presentation and the tuner is a 6 pushbutton unit instead of the rotary with presets. Steve J |

Re: TV meetup in Solihull and collection of bits-and-bobs.
Thank you for all the kind comments everyone. It was a fantastic day and it was very kind of everyone to come - I enjoyed it immensely.
I think that's actually a single-standard model in the photo Steve, very similar in styling to the CT152 - it could actually BE a CT152, although I can't quite work out whether it's a 19 or 22 inch set in the picture. (Actually I think it's a 19" model so probably not a CT152.)

Re: TV meetup in Solihull and collection of bits-and-bobs.
As I have said before it looked like a "Great Day" (it's on 78 Imperial 1930).
i remember these from my early days in the trade as I was one of the few to be let loose on Colour sets then as I had my "papers" and much preferred them to the inferior G6 & later G8. The CVC1 & Gec 2028 were my favourite dual standard sets. The CVC5 of course must be the best offering though on the market at the time. Bob Baird has one of mine that is "virginal" as to repairs 100% untouched with original receipt etc, a set I was given from the original customer in 2003 and its still perfect. Put that in the Daily Mail, oooops sorry wrong thread!
