Default 1963 Murphy Export Radio & TV Sets Book Advert.

Hello,

Thought that the attached might be of interest.

I'm told that the advert was in a book to promote British achievements & exports in around 1963, but have no further information about it.

Phil.

Never seen that radio on the top left before - and hopefully never will again! What were they thinking ?

That TV looks very similar to the UK market’s Astra Mark 2 series (V7xx models). The Astra Mark 2 chassis had hole punchings in the chassis metalwork that were not used for UK sets but they clearly were for the export and (perhaps) CCTV monitor versions.

It would be very interesting to see the service manual for the EV663 export set. It was probably the last real Murphy export TV, as the next generation of export models under Rank Bush Murphy were based on a Bush chassis (mechanicallly very similar to the Bush TV125/Murphy V879 series of UK market sets).

I love that TB-705 (?) radio! Very space-age .....

There was several different makes of a set that looked like that, sold in the US.
I was referred to as a "Cordless Table Radio".
Battery life and tone quality was better than many of the smaller transistor sets, because of the larger size.
